Startup America Live at SXSW Startup Village
By Chris Roche
SXSW Interactive is gearing up to be an awesome event. We’ve carved out a space called “Startup America Live” smack dab in the middle of Startup Village Salon E on the fourth floor of the Hilton. This exclusive area will provide a home-base for all Startup America Members at SXSW.
Each day we’ll be hosting unique television-styled programming featuring iconic entrepreneurs and brand new startups. Every morning, Jesse Draper will provide a recap of the coolest stuff going on in Startup Village and talk with folks like Steve Blank, Kay Koplovitz, Gary Shapiro, and Eric Ries about SXSW and their experiences. You’ll get to ask questions too! We’ll have our crazy take on iconic game shows like “The Price is Right,” “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” and “Minute to Win It” where startups can compete for amazing prizes that will help their companies.
You don’t want to miss all the original programming like, “The Dolphin Tank”, a pitch-practicing session designed for our startups to get actionable insights and friendly feedback. We’ll also have scheduled “Office Hours” will provide startups direct, one-on-one access to prolific mentors, investors and large companies. Whether you want to pitch your business, hear advice on any number of issues you may be going through, or just get some perspective, we’ll have someone you’ll want to talk to. We’ll cap each day off with an informal happy hour led by our Startup Regions so you can meet and mingle with entrepreneurs from your hometown or state.
Startup America Live will be a place for startups to recharge their batteries literally and figuratively; we’ll have plenty of charging stations, snacks and refreshments. And most of all, we want it to be a place that’s yours. Swing by to check out programming, speak with a mentor, set up your own meeting with the cool people you bump into around SXSW or just hang out!
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be revealing all of the amazing people who will be at Startup America Live participating in programming and office hours. Remember- you’ve got to be a registered Startup America Member to access the space, so make sure to sign up today!
