What inspired you to start your company?
Unfortunately my first child died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in 1997. While SIDS is unpreventable and unpredictable, childhood accidents are the leading cause of death for children 1-14 years of age. The majority ARE preventable. I started my child safety and babyproofing company to help keep kids safe and prevent injury and death. Now, my father has Alzheimer's and my husband has MS. With falls being the leading cause of injury from toddler and seniors, it was a natural extension to expand into senior safety and home modification to help protect those individuals as well.
Tell us something unique about you and your co-founder(s)?
I'm a caretaker for three generations - my son, my husband and my father.
What problem does your product or service solve?
We protect children, seniors and the disabled against numerous hazards including falls, fires and drowning. Upon inspection of your home, we will recommend products to make your home safer.
What are your startup's three biggest challenges to growth?
Working capital to advertise and market; educating seniors about the need for our services and having a mentor to help provide guidance on growth
How is Startup America helping you overcome these challenges and helping your startup grow?
Mentorship as well as local networking opportunities with other startups.
