Stay connected with your childcare provider

Many parents rely on childcare to help manage their families and busy lives, but find it hard to stay updated on how their child is doing on a given day. Today’s Denver-based startup is changing the way parents keep track of their child during work or travel real-time updates.

Kid Reports not only helps parents keep track of what is happening with their children on a daily basis, but it helps childcare facilities improve these services with better communication techniques.

Kid Reports is a web-based reporting system where each child has their own personal profile. This profile is updated throughout the day by his or her teacher. It can be updated via the web, smartphone, or tablet. Parents are then updated instantly through email or push notifications.

What inspired you to start your company?
As parents, we wanted to build a product that we would use if it were on the market already. We are all fathers of small children in child care, and we came together to create a better way for parents to stay connected to their children throughout the day.

Tell us about your product or service.
KidReports is a SaaS that aims to connect parents to their children while they are in child care. KidReports is not just a service for the parents but for the facilities caring for our children as well.

Childcare facilities are always looking for ways to improve their service. In speaking with these facilities, they all said that the number one item parents want is improved communication. We want them to be equipped with all the tools necessary to do their jobs better and more efficiently so they can do what they do best, provide great child care. KidReports allows them to do exactly that.

What problem does your product or service solve?
We provide a real time platform for parents to get updates on their child's daily activities as they occur, receive messages from teachers, and get photos of their children.

What are your startup's three biggest challenges to growth?
Informing the market about our solution, growing on a shoestring budget, and overcoming adoption resistance from customers.

How has the Startup America Partnership helped you overcome these challenges to growth?
Startup America's platform for free and low cost resources has been huge.

What Startup America Member Benefits have you used?
So far, we have used the payroll offering from Intuit, and are planning to leverage a lot more of the free resources.

Why should startups join Startup America?
To get access to free stuff and also to get the articles, community and general advice.

What is the startup culture like in your City/State?
The startup culture of Colorado is diverse, given that Boulder is a hotbed of startups, Denver is more corporate, and Colorado Springs and Fort Collins are both starting to build an entrepreneurial community.
