Today’s featured startup, GOTRIbal, is a community for women who are passionate about living an active and healthy lifestyle through endurance sports.
This California-based startup helps women connect with and support each other to accomplish anything they dream of doing; running a 5k, starting a business, or asking for a promotion. GOTRIbal engages and excites women through the journey of endurance sports whether it is on or off the race track.
Through the blog, weekly newsletter, and featured members, GOTRibal has been able to create a welcoming and supportive community that encourages and creates an “I’ve got your back” mentality for all that are part of it.
GOTRIbal’s ultimate goal is for their members to impact the health epidemic and obesity in America.

What inspired you to start your company?
I couldn't find an online resource or community that provided me personalized and vetted connections/content when I wanted to meet other women who lived this endurance sports lifestyle. I had no worldwide community to go to and give-back, share stories, learn recommendations, or meet other women who shared my passion for living an active, healthy lifestyle. Then I learned how fast the sports were growing, and how women were pushing the exponential growth in sales of retail, events and manufacturing of companies supporting the endurance sports space, and decided it was time that there was a community that supported those women in their lifestyle goals.
Tell us about your product or service
It removes the clutter on the web for people looking for other people who share their passion for healthy, active living and gives them access to expert content and rewards to support them along their journey.
Tell us something unique about you and your co-founder.
I can eat copious amounts of sushi, gnocchi and ice-cream. I can also ride my bike over 100 miles, jump off it and quickly go for a 6 mile run with a smile on my face. Professionally, I'm humbled to have been a Panelist speaker at the ESPNW Summit for Women in Sport in 2011.
What problem does your product or service solve?
Too much information, and not enough meaningful, relevant and personalized connections and advice for those who aspire to lead an active, healthy lifestyle through running, cycling, swimming or triathlon. GOTRIbal provides them a supportive, meaningful and relevant experience in their healthy, active lifestyle pursuits.
What are your startup's three biggest challenges to growth?
Marketing, sales and partner relationships with the right brands and hiring passionate, qualified engineering talent
How has the Startup America Partnership helped you overcome these challenges to growth?
I've used the Startup America's online services to make connections to womens groups focused on women founders and attended Startup events to meet founders and other professionals in the same space, encountering the same challenges.

What is the startup culture like in your City/State?
It's alive, thriving and fun.
