What inspired you to start your company?
Our CEO was raised in a family that had been in the business. He tried, and had moderate success, with various business start-ups. Ultimately though he could not deny his DNA, and came back to the hospitality industry with a laser focus.
Tell us something unique about you and your co-founder(s)?
Kal and I met 10 years prior to the full incarnation of Crestpoint Companies, Ltd. We were both working in the fitness industry... a far cry from building and managing hotels.
Tell us about your product or service
Crestpoint Companies is a fully integrated hospitality development, management, and investment firm. We strive for leadership in each of our segments by building quality assets, exacting high standards of customer service, and focusing on returns for our investors and partners.

What problem does your product or service solve?
We specialize in hotel receiverships, which are equivalent to commercial evictions. We manage and turn around underperforming hotels and reposition them for resale.
What are your startup's three biggest challenges to growth?
Finding people who are PH.D's ... Poor, Hungry, and Driven.
How has the Startup America Partnership helped you overcome these challenges to growth?|The video segments are a great way to capture great ideas and apply them in context.
What Startup America Member Benefits have you used?
I love the resource library. One of the most time consuming tasks is to research ideas. It usually ends up on the bottom of the to-do list. Having a library of ideas and solutions in a single location is great.
Why should startups join Startup America?
The deals, the deals, the resources, and the deals.
What is the startup culture like in your City/State?
Southern Ohio has a hard working blue-collar culture. It's not a hotbed for start-ups, but there are a lot of self-employed people. We like that, it makes it easy to find small, nimble vendors who can compete.
What else should we highlight about your startup?
We believe in the power of being "trusted people." Trust in partnerships and professional relationships are vital in not being shredded in the uber-competitive commercial development scene.
