Erika Batey

Erika Batey was a member of the Startup America team from February 2011 to April 2013
Erika joined Startup America as Social Media Lead shortly after the organization launched in January 2011. As the organization quickly evolved, Erika assumed various projects and took on new roles. Lastly, as Director of Interactive Strategy, Erika developed and implemented strategic marketing and communications plans for the web and interactive media. She consistently gave shape to sometimes challenging but mission-critical ideas. Erika identified, developed and managed editorial and multimedia content, bringing both strong editorial judgment and a fluent understanding of multimedia venues. She envisioned, planned and executed website content and interactive applications to support Startup America's communications and marketing objectives.
Concurrent with this position, Erika served as Community Director to over 12,500 members and thousands of constituents. In her community role, she was the first line of contact for all members and a strong advocate of growing a national startup community.
Prior to joining Startup America, Erika put her dynamic management and community skills to the test in the fast-paced television and live event industry. She has been in the creative media field for over six years. Early on in her career Erika was mentored by a successful entrepreneur and spent six years managing his investments before making her way south from Maine to Miami. Erika received her BS in Business Administration from the University of Maine. Born and raised in Maine, she is a ‘Mainer’ at heart but now calls Miami home. She lives minutes from the beach with her family. She is taking time off from work to be a stay-at-home parent.
